This collection follows the correspondence trails of Benjamin Burleigh Smith and his family's time as missionaries in India. It also includes collected religious materials, articles, and a large portrait of Benjamin himself.

Collection Description: This collection contains letters written by Benjamin and Dorcas to their children, Rachel, Eddie, and Delia, as well as letters written between the children. The collection also includes diaries written by Benjamin about his time as a missionary to India, a large painted portrait of Benjamin (located in the oversized collections), and physical items collected and stored in the Linfield Anthropology Museum.

Biographical Note: Born in New Hampshire, on March 17, 1820, Benjamin Burleigh Smith was a Baptist missionary to India throughout much of his life. He married Dorcas Folsom on January 1st, 1852, and was ordained as Minister and missionary to India in July of that year. Benjamin passed away in India in 1872.
