General note
Biographical Note: Emanuel Northup was born in West Oneonts, New York, on July 13th, 1851. Northup graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelots of Arts in 1879, then earned a Bachelor of Divinity from the University of Chicago in 1883. In 1908, he earned a Master of Arts, and in 1915 he was granted an honory doctorate from Linfield College. Northup married Maud Galer in 1886, and started working at Linfield in 1888. At Linfield, Northup served as Professor of Mathematics, Dean of Faculty, treasurer, secretary, and trustee.
