General note
Historical Note: Reverend Paul Newton Poling was a Presbyterian clergyman known for his strong stances on social and political issues in the wake of World War II. Born in Oregon, he was ordained by the Oregon Conference of the Evangelical Church in 1922 after graduating from Willamette University. Poling helped to drum up support for the United Nations and publicly opposed a permanent national conscription law.
Virginia Wakeman was the Chairman of the Speaker Committee in Linfield College’s Christian Student Union while she earned her Master's of Education there. After Linfield, Wakeman worked as a librarian at Seattle Central College and taught humanities.
J. H. Pollard was the Chair of the Religion Department at Linfield College from 1939 to 1957. He was a member of the American Association of University Professors.
