      General note

      Biographical Note: Dr. John L. Boling was born June 19, 1909, in South Bend, Washington. Dr. Boling graduated from Linfield in 1935, and married Gertrude Burrell in the same year. Boling went on to earn a Ph.d. in Zoology from Brown University in 1939. He then worked as a research assistant for Yale University until 1943, when he started working as an instructor at the New York College of Medicine. In 1946, Boling returned to Linfield as an associate professor, becoming a full professor in 1947 and serving as the head of the biology department for the next 27 years, also serving as Dean of Men for 15 years. Boling retired from Linfield in 1974 and continued researching at the University of Washington Medical School. Boling was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Association of Anatomists and the American Association of Biologists. Dr. John Boling died November 23rd, 1976.
