Scope and content

Thomas L. Hellie (2006-2018) - Linfield’s nineteenth president, born in Minnesota circa 1953. During Hellie’s time as president, Linfield held renovations on numerous halls - the most notable being the renovation of the old Northup Library, which was renamed T.J. Day Hall and now houses the business, English, and economics departments. Hellie embraced the location of Linfield’s McMinnville campus, in the middle of wine country, and created the Wine Studies major and minor - securing an endowment to develop the Evenstad Center for Wine Education. Additionally, Hellie made an effort to grow Linfield’s first-generation population, as he was a first-generation student. Hellie has a PhD and M.A. in Theatre History from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a B.A. in Speech and Theatre from Luther College.
