This collection compiles informational resources, details and events chronologically.
This collection contains photographs, negatives and slides from events over a period of 20 years
in the Oregon wine industry. Images in this collection cover the Oregon wine community and the
nation’s wine industry. The images in this collection were created to be part of the Oregon Wine
Press publication, of which Elaine Cohen was a cofounder.
General note
Elaine Cohen founded the Oregon Wine Press (originally called the Oregon Wine Calendar) with
Richard Hopkins in 1984. Cohen served as the executive secretary. In 1990, Cohen received the
Outstanding Service Award from the Oregon Wine Board; she later founded the Oregon chapter
of Women for Winesense in 1992. Cohen was involved with the publication for 22 years until it
was acquired by the News-Register Publishing Co. in McMinnville, Oregon. The Oregon Wine
Press was created to promote the Oregon Wine industry through publications of events and
activities.
General note
This collection contains images chronicling the history and the development of the Oregon wine
industry. This collection primarily includes photographs of various events documented by the
Oregon Wine Press (OWP) or photographs given to the OWP. Many of the photographs show
past events, locations and people. This collection contains a myriad of different Oregon wine
events such as festivals, tastings, meetings and harvest parties.
