The collection was donated by John Hamstreet, the son of Linfield alumna Margery Stewart Hamstreet.

Margery Stewart Hamstreet was born in McCoy, Ore. on Dec. 23, 1913, to Samuel and Grace (Williams) Stewart. She graduated from Linfield College in 1935 being the first female ever to earn a letter in athletics (tennis). She married Francis H. Hamstreet of Sheridan on June 5, 1939, who preceded her in death. She was a teacher and tutor for 37 years retiring from the Salem School District. Throughout her teaching and life, she touched and guided many young people who continued to keep in touch over the years. She was involved with the Lions Auxiliary, 4-H, and Happy 39ers. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, and music. She died in July of 2006.
