Scope and content

This collection contains artifacts that remain from the fraternity which were used for formal occasions such as the induction ceremony. Binders containing the Officer Manuals, alumni contact information and public outreach are contained at the end of the Collection. Correspondence between the president of the fraternity and the Mu Phi Epsilon region officer and interfraternity flyers, rosters, and notifications are contained in boxes 3 through 5. Of additional interest are the organizational necessities, including minutes, active member information, and register.

Summary: This collection contains records, assorted publications, and various artifacts from the Mu Phi Epsilon society at Linfield College.

General note

Historical Note: Mu Phi Epsilon was an international music based honorary. There were both collegiate and college level chapters. These materials were collected by the Linfield College Music Department. A co-ed international professional music fraternity, the Linfield chapter was active beginning in the late 1940s, and according to the mission, “advanced music in the community, nation, and throughout the world with [an] emphasis on service through music.”
