      Biographical Note: William (Billy) Maxwell was born in Haines, Oregon, on July 22nd, 1902. He was raised in the Muddy Creek area, and attended Linfield College, graduating in 1924. Maxwell met his wife, Hilda, at Linfield, and raised a son and a daughter. After Linfield, he worked at McMinnville High School until 1946, when he started working for Alderman Farms, and in 1968 Maxwell was elected Yamhill County Assessor. Maxwell was involved in many community organizations, serving for 41 years in the local Kiwanis club, 25 years in the Boy Scouts, and dedicated much of his time to fundraising and volunteering for Linfield Athletics. Billy Maxwell passed away on February 9th, 1976.
