      General note

      Biographical Note: Frank G. Nelson was born to John and Claude Nelson on May 26th, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Nelson earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Philosophy from the University of Michigan, then attended the Divinity School at the University of Chicago, where he earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Divinity. From 1956-1959, he served as pastor for the First Baptist Church in Mount Carroll, Illinois, while teaching at Shimer College. Nelson then worked as the Director of the Baptist Graduate Student Center at the University of Chicago from 1960-1970, before joining the faculty of Linfield as Director of the Department of Philosophy. He worked at Linfield until retiring in 2008.

      Nelson was involved in community service across a variety of roles, as the Founding Director of Oregon Advocates for the Arts, Director of the Oregon Committees for the Humanities, Chairman of the Political Action Committee of the Yamhill County Democratic Central Committee, and hosting the local interview channel "Speaking Frankly". Nelson married Barbara Ray-Brewer on February 17, 2001 in McMinnville, Oregon.
      Frank Nelson died on November 7th, 2016.
